Kimberly Rise

I’m from a city that is so hot/ there’s not a whole lot/ no spots and no jobs/ people my

Age are chilling at the robots/ they know not/ what they can do with their lives/ like you

And I/ so they rather choose to die/ by committing suicide/ it’s wrong and it’s becoming

A trend between friends/ all this business of suicide attempts has to end/ its ma home

Town I have to try and put a stop to it/ the best way I know how using this hot music/

It’s more than the place of my birth/ or where I graced this earth/ before I can even say

A word/ or learn how to face this world/ it’s the place where I became the verb/ the first

Time I laced a verse/ and it taught me to stay alert/ Kimberly made me/ from a baby/

Back in the early 80’s/ to the man I am now Kimberly made me/ it gave me/ different

Challenges daily/ and it taught me to face them bravely/ I was basically the trainee/

Kimberly gave me a dream and now I’m living that/ Kimberly gave to me and now I

Giving back/ but there’s a high suicide rate, which is wack/ Kimberly cats can make it

I’m evidence of that/

I’m not tryna preach at all/ or read a poem/ that’s deep and boring/ but people there’s

A deeper problem/ that we keep ignoring/ too many of my peeps are falling/ six feet

Deep in coffins/ so much for making feature leaders of them/ I don’t believe in problems/

Big enough for death to be an option/ I believe in talking/ and finding the means to solve

Them/ Parents are difficult to talk to I see it often/ so if you’ve got peeps you can talk to

You need to call them/ lets opt for living in health/ and stop killing ourselves/ not mention

Life is God given as well/ or write your problems down jot a little it helps/ when I’m

Depressed I write and feel a lot different myself/ I write a verse or two/ you need to

Find something that works for you/ something that’s deep something that’s personal/ you

Need to find a way of expressing what’s hurting/ but keep in mind there’s always someone

Who got problems worse than you/?

Whoever said life was easy told a lie/ everyone got major problems believe me so did I,

Not saying that I’m better but I never chose to die/ instead I put ma head up and I said I’d

Go for mine/ now look I’m in the music bizz/ I write and produce a bit/ a Kimberly kid

Like you doing it/ I making moves with this/ it can be done and I’m proving it/ but the first

And most important move of all choose to live/
